Stopping Viruses and Advanced Time Map
Volume 2, Issue 30
The weekly ezine with a road map for
sidetracked writers.
"Be better writers today
than we were yesterday."
Hello, gang!
Stopping Viruses
As I'm sure you are aware, there are some nasty viruses
floating around these days, and I've been notified that a
message is floating around spoofed with the From name of
"Julie Hood, OrganizedWriter.com" with an
attachment that has the BugBear virus.
*** Please note, this message is not from me. ***
*** I will never send you an attachment from
***
*** Julie Hood, OrganizedWriter.com.

If I need to send you a file, I will give you a download
link from OrganizedWriter.com.
If you're interested, here's how spoofing works:
1. Reader X gets infected with a virus.
2. The virus grabs an old message from the reader's inbox.
3. The virus grabs two email addresses from the reader's
address list: one to use in the To field AND one to use in
the From field (this is where the spoofing comes in. The
virus pretends to be the person in the From field).
4. It then sends this blanket message out to everyone in
the reader's address book.
How to protect yourself:
1. Most importantly, scan ALL attachments for viruses
before you open or view them.
2. Keep your virus software up-to-date. Some versions will
automatically update for you.
Yahoo! Groups
As an extra precaution, Yahoo! groups maintains your email
addresses. I do not have them in my address list, and from
this point forward, new subscribers will receive the
planner file via a link instead via email.
How do you share and plan your writing time with the other
people in your life?
This can be a challenge, especially with all the
responsibilities we have in our busy lives. I have an idea
for you.
Sit down with your spouse or significant other, and plot
out a shared time map. Those of you who have my ebook can
use the Time Map form in the appendix. Or you can set up a
time grid in a spreadsheet with each hour listed down the
left and 14 columns across the top (one for each person
for each day of the week).
My husband and I did this and were amazed at how much we
learned about how each of us spends our time. We
color-coded the different events to see our free time
versus our commitments and our parenting time (and we
actually broke it down into fifteen minute increments.
That's what happen when you get two computer science
majors together!).
This Advanced Time Map really helped us feel like partners
in planning tiime for our family and for each of us to
finish our favorite projects.
I hope this helps you (and the others in your life) better
organize your time. Type at you next week.
P.S. "Julie, I love your book. I have read (or at least opened) more than a trunk load of books about writing over the years. Yours is the first I have seen that gives readers so much in one place. For me, the Master List and putting that together was more than worth the cost."
