Feb 9, 2005 - The Power of Words
Volume 4, Issue 5
The weekly ezine with a road map for
sidetracked writers.
"Be better writers today
than we were yesterday."
Thought for the Week - The Power of Words
"We have the power of words. We can make anything happen."
Who do you think may have uttered this phrase?
Plato? Shakespeare?
Nope.
A best-selling author?
Nope.
Steve from Blue's Clues (for those of you who don't get to see preschool TV as much as I do <grin>, Blue's Clues is a TV show that teaches critical thinking skills).
I was sitting here thinking about this week's newsletter while my kids learn to read with Blue, and in the background I could hear Steve mention "the power of words."
Hmmmm... I had to rewind to hear him say, "We have the power of words. We can make anything happen."
Have you ever thought about how powerful your words and writing can be? What if your writing could change the life of even one reader?
Let's get organized so you can do more of it!
(And don't forget the Blue's Clues motto: "We can do anything that we wanna do!")
Blue's Clues is a trademark of Viacom International Inc.
P.S. Did you miss last week's issue? Read it
athere.
P.P.S.
This week has been such a treat! I got two emails from readers who mentioned how much they liked The Organized Writer: 30 Days to More Time, More Money and Less Frustration. You can read one
here:
Thanks for making my week! J.
For freelance writers.... Save an Editor Time
Do you have reprints floating around your office just waiting to find a good home? Check out this article from
Michael H. Sedge at Writer-on-line.com. He explains how he sends editors a list of his print articles with word counts (and saves them time by providing several ideas in one message):
The site lets you search by type of book the reviewer will accept (galleys, published book, ebooks, fiction or nonfiction, genre) and gives you links to the individual
sites.
Happy writing (and organizing!) Julie

"Julie, I love your book. I have read (or at least opened) more than a trunk load of books about writing over the years. Yours is the first I have seen that gives readers so much in one place. For me, the Master List and putting that together was more than worth the cost."
