Writer-Reminders .... the weekly ezine for sidetracked writers.

Oct 17, 2005 - Too many calendars

Thought for the Week - Running on All Cylinders

I'm running on all cylinders this week.... I don't know about you but everything seems to kick start into a higher gear this time of the year. Every activity has its own long list of stuff to do (soccer, religion classes, dance, school, scouts. I hope that's all of them!) and the holidays are revving up.

So my organizing tip for this week, is to set aside a few minutes (or maybe an hour if you have as many as I do) and get your calendar up-to-date. Grab all those schedules and get everything written down so you know exactly what time you have available and when.

I actually have my calendar on my computer so I can set up Wednesday night soccer practice once and have it repeat every week. You can probably do this with the Outlook calendar or I use an old version of Agendus to sync with my handheld Palm computer.

So, Julie, where have you been??

Playing and working!

Sorry you haven't heard from me for awhile. Sept. is my 2nd busiest work month and family month of the year -- and this year we celebrated six birthdays and our wedding anniversary with a trip to Disney World! It was the first airplane trip for the kids, and Grandma and Grandpa came along, too. My in-laws treated us to staying at one of the Disney World resorts, and we had a wonderful time.

Now I'm recharged for getting back to work.... be sure to sign up for the Feng Shui teleconference with guru Linda Binns.

And I've got a brand-new training course in the works for you to tie in with my new ebook.... I've been pounding away on the computer..... stay tuned for all the scoop.

Best,
Julie

For freelance writers... Journaling about pain and tragedy

If you are still reeling from all the pain caused by the hurricanes (or any other kind of pain or grief), try journaling about it. Scrapbooking guru and Book of Me author, Angie Pedersen, has great some suggestions and links at

http://angiepedersen.typepad.com/blogofme/2005/09/hurricane_katri.html

Journaling is how I deal with the too-hard-to-think-about issues that hide under the surface. Sometimes just writing a letter to the person (or imaginary person) will help.

"Julie, I am sending a quick note to thank you for your well measured and extra-ordinary website. You have a tremendous amount of information at a very reasonable cost. I subscribed to your free site and, for the first time in forty years of writing, found a planner that works for me.  I felt so guilty for receiving so much information free from your
site that I have now ordered and downloaded the e book. I have found that you have struck a cord among so  many writers regarding procrastination and simple  organization. Keep up the good work.
